In Austria, 10 animal rights activists have been put in jail Mai 21st, for being "members of a criminal organisation". The construct is that the animal rights movement itself as a whole is declared a "criminal organisation" and that you can be counted as a member of it for whatever you do for animal rights, even if you yourself are not involved in illegal actions (it already counts as a crime that other "members" of the "criminal organisation" someone is accused to be part of do illegal things.).
In mai 23 appartments and other rooms where raided by the Austrian police, kicking in the doors at 7am pressing a gun against people's head's, who where still in bed, very brutal raids. They did that without having any evidence against those people, instead they were hoping to find "evidence" in the appartments (it's illegal to search people's appartments against their will if there's no evidence that those people may have committed a specific crime). The put 10 of them in jail because a "criminal organisation" must at least consist of 10 people.
They'll all have to stay in jail at least until September, until trials will start.
