I think it's impossible to choose a single "favourite book". For me, there were many books which changed me, or taught me something, or made me feel strange. I love fantasy books :)

Mine: The Trilogy of Bartimaeus by Jonathan Stroud, the entire trilogy "His Dark Materials" by Philip Pullman, a pair of Italian books (City by Alessandro Baricco and Margherita Dolcevita by Stefano Benni), lots of books from the Discworld series of Terry Pratchett (especially Feet of Clay, Night Watch, Equal Rites and Pyramids) and many others I'm surely forgetting now.
